Time for a Home Makeover!
Emilio - August 4, 2009

Kitchen... think simple.
1. Don't overspend on cabinets. Forgo custom detailed cabinets and opt for painted wood.
2. Wood Floors. Wood costs half as much as ceramic tiles and lasts much longer than vinyl.
3. Mid-range appliances. Mid-range GE models offer everything an amateur chef needs for much less.
Bathroom... Forget the tub.
1. Easy on the tile. Tile only around the shower, toilet, and sink.
2. Light. A skylight will transform tight space, but if that isn't an option, opt for a mirror that covers the entire wall.
3. Deals on fixtures. Sites like Directbuy can help you find showerheads, sinks, and more for a third cheaper than retail.
4. Tub vs Shower. A new tub will cost you about twice as much as a new shower. Save even more by opting for a doorless opening shower.
